Our Story

The story of Kubus Photo Service is one that perfectly encapsulates the pursuit of the American Dream.

Kubuś Photo Service has been around since 1994 and is one of the oldest film labs still around in NYC. My father, Andrzej Redziniak, opened the lab just a year after immigrating from Poland.

“Kubuś” is what my family calls me — a cute nickname for Jakub in Polish. When he opened the lab, he gave it that name too — a father’s quiet way of saying, “this is for you.”

In 2023, he passed the torch to me — his son, Jakub Redziniak — to carry the legacy forward into a new era of film.

My father ran Kubuś Photo with a relentless work ethic. For nearly 30 years, he worked seven days a week, took just three days off per year, and allowed himself only one true vacation during those 3 decades. He’s the hardest working person I’ve ever known.

When I took over in November 2023, I built on that foundation with a different approach — bringing in creativity, streamlined systems, and modern technology. Together, his grit and my vision have sparked a new chapter for Kubuś Photo — one rooted in legacy, but built for what’s next.
